Queen Mum, meet the queen? Well, that was probably a bit surreal.

She may have played Queen Elizabeth II's mother in The King's Speech, but earlier today it was Helena Bonham Carter who was giddy as a child as she was made a CBE—that is, Commander of the British Empire—by the monarch.

But it didn't all go quite as smoothly as she would have liked...

Accompanied by partner Tim Burton, and their son Billy, 8, and daughter Nell, 4, Carter donned a red tartan dress and miniature top hat for the regal occasion, held at Buckingham Palace.

On her way out of the ceremony, the 45-year-old told the press that it had been a "very very special day," and was quickly asked about one of her more random (even for her) accessories: a pink cell phone with bunny ears.

When asked by the media if it had gone off, she replied, "No, but the 4-year-old did."

Cheeky bugger. Congrats!
