CeCe Winans is living up to the honor of being godmother to Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown's daughter, Bobbi Kristina.

While Brown reportedly may be feuding with the Houston family, I'm told...

The celebrated gospel singer and longtime dear friend of Houston's has already promised to be "very involved" in 18-year-old Bobbi Kristina's life, a source says.

In fact, I'm told Winans, who lives in Nashville with her husband and their two children, has been praying regularly specifically for Bobbi Kristina.

Soon after learning of Houston's death, Winans issued a statement to E! News:

"I have no words to express how I feel. Whitney was not just a friend but a sister and I am going to miss her voice, her humor but mostly her friendship. She was undoubtedly one of the greatest singers of all time but she was also a great person. Please keep her family in prayer and the best way to honor her is to be reminded that tomorrow is not promised to any of us so love God and love each other."

She also tweeted, "I LOVED her SO much, but God loved her more. I pray she's resting in His arms!"

As I was the first to tell you, CeCe's brother, the Rev. Marvin Winans, will deliver Houston's eulogy at her funeral on Saturday in New Jersey.

The Winans are what real friends are all about.

Whitney Houston's death has rattled Hollywood.

But after a life of award-winning highs and tragic lows, Houston's long-time friend, model Beverly Johnson, says she knows the late singer is now in a better place...

"I knew Whitney since she was a teenager," Johnson told us of at last night's Hollywood premiere of Tyler Perry's Good Deeds. "She was modeling and I was introduced to her. I was the big model then and she was the new girl on the block. So we always had this kind of mutual love for one another. It's sad."

Johnson will never forget being at the Beverly Hills listening party for Houston's last album, I Look to You, in 2009.

Echoing what Grammy-winning songwriter Diane Warren told us at the Grammys, Johnson said, "She was back. She was amazing. We talked a lot."

"I know one thing," she added. "She's in a great place. She's most certainly an angel with such a sweet soul."

Chris Brown Plays Victim, Claims Media Out to Get Him

Wed., Feb. 15, 2012 12:30 PM PST by Josh Grossberg

Kevin Winter/Getty Images

Chris Brown doesn't give a (pick your expletive) what the naysayers have to think of his dual Grammy wins and two featured performances last Sunday—which came three years almost to the day after his notorious beatdown of then-girlfriend Rihanna

And now he's going after the press.

Here's what the "Run It" singer had to say this morning on his Twitter page before abruptly deleting them.

MORE: Chris Brown Tweets to Haters After Grammy Win

Oprah Winfrey's Twitter Blunder Oprah Winfrey's Twitter Blunder Gisele's 1st Catwalk Since Controversy

"DEAR MEDIA.. Ur plan is not working…I'm not going anywhere so get used to me," tweeted Brown, adding, "How long is this gonna take?"

Perhaps Brown was wondering when the public will forgive him for the felony assault, a crime for which he performed hundreds of hours of community service and for which he's now on probation.

While Grammy voters have moved on, the same can't be said of many critics—newspapers such as the Washington Post and Los Angeles Times had editorials decrying his presence at the Grammsy, while celebs like Miranda Lambert and Jack Osbourne took Brown to task on Twitter.

But Brown did receive support from some unexpected quarters.

MORE: Why Were the Grammys Such a Chris Brown Lovefest?

The View cohost Sherri Shepherd stood up for Brown on Tuesday's episode, calling out teenage girls for ignoring the realities of domestic violence when they jokingly tweeted during the Grammy telecast that they wouldn't mind taking a beating from Brown—if only to meet their idol.

"I've defended Chris Brown and said that I thought he deserved another chance. I still do think he deserves another chance. We shouldn't just throw him out because of one mistake and it's over," said Shephered. "But these girls, it concerns me more than Chris Brown—it's deeper. [It's about] your self-worth: what do you think you're worth? Either A) you've been in this situation and it's not bothering you, or B) you've never been in this situation and you don't understand what it feels like to be punched in the face."

Cohost Elisabeth Hasselbeck accused Shepherd of going too easy on him.

"I think it's interesting to be so loose on Chris Brown," she said. "If it was your daughter, I don't think you'd be saying it."

Shepherd stood by her statements, claiming Chris could still be a role model.

"There may be a child in a situation of going through abuse that Chris Brown has gone through. His mother was abused right in front of his very eyes six years before this happened to Rihanna. He used to wet his pants from the fear," said Shepherd. "He was a victim! He became an offender. He did what the courts told him to do. He went to 52 weeks, a year of domestic prevention counseling."

On Monday, Sherri also tweeted, "Looks like all is forgiven w Chris Brown. That's all I'll say."

We'll give her this: at least she's consistent.

Sony Records learned the hard way how it looks to seemingly rush into capitalizing on the death of a celebrity. The Beverly Hilton isn't about to make the same morbid mistake.

Despite a report claiming that the fourth-floor hotel room in which Whitney Houston was found was already rebooked, E! News confirms that, to the contrary, the suite remains unoccupied.

"It was not rented, it is not rented and it will not be rented in the foreseeable future," a spokesperson for the Beverly Hilton told E! News of the already infamous room 434.

The spokesperson went on to say that TMZ, which ran the initial report and even claimed that there was currently a party staying in the room, never contacted the hotel to confirm the accuracy of their claim.

Meanwhile, Houston's family is doing their best to work through the tragedy, with Bobby Brown releasing a statement earlier today saying, "We continue to provide love and support to Bobbi Kristina. She is dealing with the tragedy of her mother's death and would prefer to do it outside of the public eye. We ask that our privacy be respected."

Whitney will be laid to rest in Newark's New Hope Baptist Church on Saturday.
