Stephen Colbert to Write Children's Book About a Pole

Stephen Colbert has a little something for the youngest members of Colbert Nation.

Inspired by his two-part interview last month with legendary Where the Wild Things Are author Maurice Sendak, Comedy Central's fake pundit is teaming with Grand Central Publishing to release his very own children's book...about a pole.

The tome I Am a Pole (And So Can You!) drops on May 8.

"It's been a lifelong dream of mine to write a children's book. I hope the minutes you and your loved ones spend reading it are as fulfilling as the minutes I spent writing it," quipped Colbert.

The idea of the funnyman giving the 83-year-old Sendak a run for his money in children's lit came about after the latter appeared on The Colbert Report and the Emmy winner surprised him with news that he was working on his own tome for kids in a bid to "cash in" on celebrity children's books written by the likes of Bill O'Reilly and Madonna.

According to Grand Central, the segment went viral, culminating in a deluge of requests from fans wanting copies of the book.

This isn't Colbert's first foray into the publishing world. He also penned the New York Times bestseller I Am America (And So Can You!).

Reese Witherspoon Opens Up About Acting In 1991 MTV Interview

Reese Witherspoon is slated to sit down with MTV News on Tuesday for an exclusive interview and premiere of a previously unseen clip from her upcoming film "This Means War." The special, "MTV First: Reese Witherspoon," will air on January 31 at 7:56 p.m. ET on MTV.

But before we look to the future, we are going to take a peep at her past. MTV News has uncovered a precious vintage gem, a 1991 interview with the then up-and-comer. "Ever since I was 7," the already precocious and sassy rookie told MTV News when asked whether she had always had her sights set on a career in Hollywood. "I just thought, I always wanted to do something really outgoing 'cause when I was little I was really kind of quiet, but you know, I'd always be really creative at home and stuff, and finally I started, you know, speaking out and doing little things to impress everybody."

She further explained that once she had decided that acting was something she wanted to do, she took the necessary steps to make sure she'd be ready for fame and stardom. "I started taking little acting classes and improv classes and, you know, [that] turned out to be what I was going to do," she said. "I was always going to do something really out there, really far away. Does that make any sense? No, not really."

Later mocking herself and her answer, she teased, "That's nice, Reese. That's real nice."

Following the on-air "First" segment, Academy Award winner Witherspoon will stay for an additional 30-minute interview on MTV.com with MTV News' Josh Horowitz. Fans can be part of the action right away by submitting video or text questions starting Monday on MTV.com or via Twitter by using the @MTVNews hashtag #MTVFirst.

"This Means War," the McG-directed comedy-action film, stars Witherspoon as a seductive female dating two of the world's deadliest CIA operatives (played by Chris Pine and Tom Hardy), whose partnership and friendship are put in jeopardy when they begin to battle for her affections. Instead of talking to her about the love triangle, they try to settle the matter using all of the weapons at their disposal.

The film also stars one of Witherspoon's real-life pals, comedian and "Chelsea Lately" host Chelsea Handler, who gives Reese's character the terrible advice that she should continue dating both men.

Adam Lambert's 'Better Than I Know Myself' About 'Duality'

Adam Lambert has come a long way since "American Idol" and is taking a reflective look back with his new single, "Better Than I Know Myself." The pop star, who turns 30 on Sunday, tells MTV News that the first release from his forthcoming sophomore album, Trespassing, is "about the relationship you have with yourself, between your dark and light side. It's about duality; it's about that balance and finding it and struggling to maintain it and what it means."

It's been a tumultuous few weeks for the singer, who was arrested in Finland in late December after a verbal argument with his boyfriend, Sauli Koskinen, outside of a Helsinki bar turned physical. Lambert later admitted to Ellen DeGeneres during an appearance on her show last week that alcohol was the main catalyst for the altercation, telling the host, "When you add alcohol to a situation, things can get out of control. ... What happened was, we had too much to drink. We screwed up. There was no injuries, no violence. It was more just childish, foolish messiness."

With the March 20 release of Trespassing nearing, Lambert's focus has returned to his music and his new single.

"It's so universal," Lambert tells MTV News. "It's ... in the middle of a bunch of different genres, and I think that no matter who you are, if you've been in a relationship, you know what that is."

Lambert collaborated on the track with Dr. Luke (Britney Spears, Katy Perry) and songwriter Claude Kelly, who co-wrote his debut single, "For Your Entertainment." He admitted "Better" has a lot in common with his Pink-written top 10 smash "Whataya Want from Me," saying, "There is something similar to 'Whataya Want from Me,' and I think that's the reason I'm really glad it's the first single."

He also revealed that the upcoming video for the track is "like a cousin" to the "Whataya Want" clip.

Lambert said the song deals with the insecurities that come with being in a relationship. "[It's about] that moment where you're like, 'I need you, I love you,' where you have to reassure your partner," adding, "No matter what kind of relationship, everybody can relate to that moment."

Ashton Kutcher had no answer when asked if Demi Moore was okay following her nitrous oxide-induced medical emergency -- hopping wordlessly into a car beside a blonde mystery woman Tuesday night.

The video was shot as the actor was leaving a nightclub in Sao Paulo, Brazil -- an agency photog asks, "Is Demi okay?" ... and Ashton keeps mum, piling into an idling vehicle with two acquaintances, one female.

Ashton has yet to speak out on Demi's condition. The two split in November.

I hope he reaches out to her and the girls. He was family, and knows how he can help her. It's devastating to be cheated on, especially when the spouse denies it. Try to repair some damage now, because you hurt her, Ashton. Demi would be there for you if you were in bad shape, right?

Ashton and a mystery blonde woman, when is it never this way with TMZ celebrity stories. Some description just like that, so an assumption is made whether true or not that the celebrity male is running around as usual, or where someone has more 'feelings' than anyone else. Demi may not have been perfect at times in her life, and then it seems most stories anymore are where someone has used someone like kleenex and la la la la la land who cares anymore? One must ask what is the purpose of the whole thing, everyone uses someone but we are told we are one world in unity and love is it and fa la la la.

I am sure he has "washed" his hands of her by now. Was she "caught off guard" by his cheating? Or did she know about it for years? Guilty guys and gals usually don't go back to ugly scenes with their spouses, especially a spouse, a mother of 3, in her 40's, using whip-its. She picked him and obviously made a mistake. He doesn't owe TMZ a comment about such a subject as his soon to be ex. Highly sensitive material; talking about your ex and especially since he had 3 step-daughters to think about before he opens his mouth.

Well that's good but then what sort of example has he set for those 3 girls....running around on their mother tells them there was something wrong with them, yep, kids take it that way alright. They blame themselves for their parents break-up too. And then there's something 'wrong' with Demi for having feelings about it, no matter how one rationalizes that he was too young and this and that, whatever, he entered the marriage, why did he do that to Demi? Even if she did this to Willis as some allege, not sure, but when does it end?

Guess that is too much to expect, ya everyone has an excuse to be a *-up.

And then some ask what is the point when people live their lives and hurt the one they claim they love. So who wants to get too close to anyone, the message is sent, you see.
