Paris Hilton, card sharp? Who knew.

The hotel heiress rang in her 31st birthday in style on Friday, and judging by the events of that night in Las Vegas, we think we know what she wished for as she blew out all her candles: a date with Lady Luck.

Later that night, Hilton took time out from celebrating to announce on Twitter that she'd won $30,000 while playing blackjack.

Some girls have all the luck. And the money.

"Just won 30k playing blackjack at @WynnLasVegas!" the year older and wiser luckier star tweeted early Saturday morning. "#Yes! #BirthdayGirlsLuck! I love gambling! :D"

She wasn't shy about sharing her excitement throughout the night.

The night before her winning spree, she celebrated at XS nightclub, where in addition to her sister Nicky Hilton, Wiz Khalifa was among the revelers.

"@RealWizKhalifa, last night as sick! What a party! Happy we all got to celebrate together! #GoodTimes," she tweeted, later adding, "Best birthday ever."

We can see why. Happy birthday, Paris!

Is Kate Middleton Safe While London Burns?

Have Prince William and Duchess Kate gone into hiding in the wake of the violence in England?

It's an understandable question, given that London has announced plans to flood its streets with 16,000 bobbies, just to stem the rioting that is spreading across the country.

But, remember, these are the royals we're talking about. It's not like they were out in Tottenham grabbing a bap when the violence erupted:

I did ring up Clarence House, the official contact for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. For the record, they were a wee tad swamped and not immediately available for comment. However, it's unlikely that any royal is in immediate danger.

For one, Will and Kate underwent security training at an army base just this past weekend, according to several newspaper reports.The couple reportedly participated in mock hostage rescue scenarios and met with soldiers, who used live ammo during their exercises.

The Evening Standard quoted a source thusly: "The training is designed to show VIPs exactly what to expect if they are taken hostage and how to behave so that they do not interfere with the rescue. These soldiers do this day in and day out so there would be no risk to William and Kate, but it could be a little scary."

If the reporting is true, then the couple participated in a tradition for any new members of the royal family; Diana underwent the same drills.

The royal family also has access to exclusive escape routes.

For example, in the recently published book The Secret State, historian Peter Hennessy revealed a Cold War-era plan to whisk the Queen away to a "floating bunker" in Scotland in the event of a nuclear crisis.

And, while the duke and duchess have an official London residence at Kensington Palace, royal security has a history of planning evacuations to country estates in the event of disaster. (A man named Geoffrey Devereux has alleged that he was recruited during World War II to aid in protecting the young Elizabeth II. The plan, he said, involved whisking the kid away to one Madresfield Court in Malvern.)

As for exactly where Kate and William are at this hour, it's unclear. The couple has been lying mostly low for the past few days, with William reportedly participating in Royal Air Force drills in Wales.

Per the publication Woman's Day: "It is their wish to stay out the limelight during the coming months. William is back in the cockpit at RAF Valley while Kate is settling into military life."

If the couple has been lost in the scrum, it's currently not public knowledge. And besides, once she married into the royal family, Kate got something much more valuable than a tea set or a blender:

Bristol Palin: I Lost My Virginity While Drunk

When Bristol Palin lost her virginity, it wasn't the romantic experience she had envisioned.

In her new autobiography, Not Afraid of Life: My Journey So Far, the 20-year-old single mom reveals that, while drunk for the very first time, she lost her virginity to Levi Johnston during a camping trip.

Palin says she woke up alone in her tent, with no recollection as to what happened. Johnston, meanwhile, "talked with his friends on the other side of the canvas."

When she confronted him about their sexual encounter, Johnston, now 21, told Palin what she wanted to hear: they wouldn't have sex again until they were married.

But, Palin writes, they became intimate again shortly after. When she learned she was pregnant in 2008, Palin was on birth control pills prescribed to treat her cramps; it took eight home pregnancy tests to convince her that she was expecting.

Bristol Palin admits she lost her virginity while drunk on a camping trip in her new memoir "Not Afraid of Life: My Journey So Far."

Palin writes that she got drunk for the first time on wine coolers and then lost her virginity to boyfriend Levi Johnston, according to the Associated Press. She awoke the next morning with Johnston talking "with friends on the other side of the canvas."

After that night, Palin vowed to her mother, Alaska governor Sarah Palin, that she'd abstain from sex until marriage. She continued to have sex and at 18 became pregnant.

Palin's book, co-written by Nancy French, covers her family and her mom's run for vice president, but focuses on Johnston, whom she calls a "gnat ... constantly spreading false accusations" against her family. The two were engaged but called it off two weeks after the birth of their son Tripp and then reconnected in 2010 and again became engaged. They called it off three weeks later.

"I'd just made a complete fool of myself and given my family the middle finger," she says after learning Johnston was cheating on her. His side of the story will be told in his upcoming book, "Deer in the Headlights: My Life in Sarah Palin's Crosshairs," due for publication this fall.

Palin adds in her memoir, out next week, that she's "just a normal girl who couldn't hide her problems and learned a few lessons along the way."
