Gavin DeGraw may not feel much like talking, but his thumbs are sending a welcome message.

"Hi my friends," tweeted the 34-year-old singer, who was released from Bellevue Hospital Center today after being treated for injuries suffered when he was beaten up by a group of guys in Manhattan's East Village in the wee hours Monday morning.

"Honestly, I don't remember much. I only know I can recover from here. Thank u all for your genuine concern. I love u guys."

Surely his fans are just happy he's alive! (And his rep confirms that DeGraw tweeted the message himself.)

The "I Don't Want to Be" crooner was reportedly leaving a bar at around 4 a.m. after a night out with friends when, a few blocks away, he was jumped by multiple unknown assailants. DeGraw was able to walk away from the scene, but was subsequently dinged by a cab at the intersection of Third Avenue and 19th Street.

An ambulance hauled him off to Bellevue and he reported the attack to the NYPD. Officers are investigating what went down.

Luckily, the run-in with the cab didn't cause major injuries, but DeGraw suffered a concussion, a broken nose, black eyes and cuts and bruises in his one-against-many confrontation.

He has canceled his Friday and Saturday performances, but we're happy to see him back on his tweets.
