Submitted 2010-10-13 00:47:45 Some of the most collectable of autograph items are Star Wars autographs, followed closely by Star Trek collectibles and Star Wars memorabilia, however some Star Trek autographed items have fetched very high prices at autograph auctions. If you are a collector of Sci-Fi memorabilia then it would be well worth your while going to a few conventions. Although the vast majority of these conventions are in the U.S. there are a few in the UK where you can browse Star Wars collectables, Star Trek collectables and Lord of the Rings
collectables. These tend to be in the London area and the shows cater for memorabilia lovers and the person who collects the occasional in person signed autograph. Warp 10 is the convention for Star Trek fans, in fact I picked up some very cool Star Trek posters from a dealer recently who is attending that convention. I myself have a large selection of Star Trek autographs, of which the majority have come from these shows. I remember the first show I took my daughter to back in 2003, it was London Film and Comic show where she collected a Star Wars autograph, several items of Star wars merchandise and three Lord of the Rings posters all of which she still has to this day. Along with the Star Wars signed photos we collected some Stargate memorabilia and Lord of the Rings signed photos. When you go to these conventions there is generally a star from the show signing autographs and it is a very good way to collect genuine autographs and memorabilia without having to worry about forgeries or counterfeit memorabilia. A great many autograph dealers go to these shows to sell their Star Trek merchandise or their Lord of the Rings autographs, if you are buying items from these dealers please make sure they are UACC registered dealers or AFTAL approved dealers as you have a comeback should you not be happy with any of the Sci-Fi autographs or autographed photo. Dr Who conventions are generally held all over the country and in November they are holding one up in Newcastle from November 12th � 14th (inclusive). Available at this convention will be Dr Who autographs, Dr Who memorabilia and Dr Who merchandise. If you are a fan of the Doctor this looks like a must, you can even meet several of the cast from previous seasons and get Dr Who signed photos and cast signed autographs. This November I will be going to the NEC to the Memorabilia show on the 20th and 21st of November to collect some boxing memorabilia and autographed photos.
Top of my list is a Carl Fogarty autograph and a Thomas Hearns autographed photo. Also at the show are some football stars from the past and I will no doubt be tempted to buy some Lisbon Lions autographs and a few Manchester United autographs to top up my selection of signed football memorabilia. If you look on the internet I am sure you will find a convention that suits your taste. A good site to look at is the Collectormania site as it has loads of conventions and show s throughout the year, some may be in a town near you. I can recommend these shows as I have collected many signed photos, signed posters and some excellent authentic autographed memorabilia.
