Trooping the Colour precedes the Olympics in London this summer

This summer, as every year since 1748, the United Kingdom is going to celebrate the Queen's birthday. The date will be 16th of June and the celebration will take place as usual at the House Guards Parade, Whitehall in London.
Trooping the Colour represents the days when the national flag was trooped before a battle, so the Great Britain's soldiers could recognize it. Now this event is considered to be one of the most significant royal celebrations in the country and it is being held to mark the Official birthday of the Queen.

The event is too impressive to be explained just in a few sentences, but you could gather a picture of it if you can image thousands of officers, 200 army horses and hundreds of musicians performing the march. When the Horse Guards Building rings 11 am, the Queen shows up giving her Royal Salute. After that the Royal Family watches the Royal Air Fire flypast from the Buckingham Palace balcony at 1 am.

This royal tradition has been gathering thousands of people and booking thousands of holiday apartments in London every year. There is curtain amount of tickets that are being announced for sale from 1st of January till the end of February. You can apply by writing a letter to the official Horse Guards Whitehall address with an stamped envelope and your address on it. The lucky ones that will be standing on the best positions will be chosen by ballot and that's when they will be asked to pay their ticket. The price of the tickets is not expected to be more than 20 to 40 pounds. So if your reason to visit Britain's capital is this particular event, don't be in hurry to book a short term rental in London until you find out you've got the tickets.

In case you are from the ones that got their envelope chosen, try to find available holiday rental London somewhere near the area. Bear in mind that the closest tube stations are the Westminster, District, Jubilee and on Circle one. On the guidance maps that you will find them coloured in green, silver and yellow.
If not, there will be a view to the parade from the Mall which will be available for everyone. Remember, there will be many that will wake up early in the morning to keep a place on the front rows, so be prepared to meet the crowd sooner that you think, especially now when the Olympics are coming right after the Trooping the Colour and the number of tourists will be more than usual.
